About Us

Mendham Township First Aid Squad is 100% volunteer and on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  Our NJ State Certified EMTs provide pre-hospital emergency medical care at no charge. Call 911 and the Squad will respond.

MTFAS is a scramble squad meaning that when someone calls 911 for a medical emergency, members get an alert wherever they are and quickly respond. We have a dedicated group of volunteers who are always ready to help. Our members are nationally trained and cerified as EMRs (Emergency Medical Responder), EMTs (Emergency Medical Technician), and Ambulance Drivers to provide top-notch care to our community and neighbors. Our members continuously strive to advance their medical education through training and NJ State Certified classes to stay up to date on all protocols and quality care.

To cover the entirety of Mendham Township, our two rigs are split between our Ralston Bay and Brookside Bay. Depending on the location of the caller and the volunteers available, volunteers respond to one of the two Bays and then proceed with the ambulance to the caller location.

MTFAS provides care in the form of response to 911 calls, EMS coverage on scene at community events (parades, fireworks, clam bake, etc.), CPR training, and collaboration with Brookside Engine Company and Ralston Fire Company for Fire Rehab Training.  In addition, if you need a wheelchair, crutches, or walker on a loaner basis, please email us and we will arrange to drop one off to you.

Our members volunteer their time which allows us to provide Basic Life Support (BLS) without any fees to the caller when we respond to an emergency.  However, in the event of a more serious emergency, a patient may need a more advanced form of medical care from paramedics who are hospital-based.  Please note that there is a charge for the hospital-based paramedics.
